NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT - Introducing Honeywell's HMC1041Z Magnetic Sensor
Narrow dimensions and small size make it ideal for low-profile vertical sensing applications

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, April 1, 2005 - Honeywell's newest addition to its magnetic sensor product line is a z-axis, surface mount sensor designed for low field magnetic sensing. When added with two-axis magnetoresistive sensors, a cost effective and space-efficient three-axis magnetometer or compassing solution is enabled. The compact size and low-height (1.05 mm) makes this sensor ideal for small, portable products like hand-held devices.

The The surface mount, z- axis feature of the HMC1041Z makes it easy to assemble and compatible with high speed SMT assembly processes. In addition, the low voltage operation (2.0V) requirement offers compatibility for battery powered applications.

This new sensor is available in tape and reel packaging and features lead-free construction.

Especially designed for high volume, cost effective OEM designs, applications for the HC1041Z include compasses included in cell phones, hand held GPS, watches and automobiles.

The HMC1041Z utilizes Honeywell’s Anisotropic Magnetoresistive (AMR) technology that provides advantages over coil-based magnetic sensors. These sensors are extremely sensitive, low-field, solid state and designed to measure direction and magnitude of Earth’s magnetic fields, from tens of micro-gauss to 6 gauss.
