Honeywell Introduces the HMR3100 Digital Compass
New Magnetic Product Provides Users with Low Cost Method for Deriving Heading Measurements

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, May 8, 2002 -- Honeywell [NYSE:HON] today introduced the HMR3100 Digital Compass, a two-axis electronic compass circuit board that can be easily and inexpensively integrated into new or existing navigation applications. With this addition to its magnetic sensor product family, Honeywell provides users with a complete turnkey solution for electronic compassing. Engineers can easily integrate the HMR3100 into their own systems via a simple USART communication interface which makes it ready for use in applications like vehicle compasses, navigation systems, hand held electronics, and telescope positioning. The HMR3100 utilizes Honeywell's magnetoresistive sensors for reliability and accuracy and includes electronics to provide a digital readout of heading measurements.

The HMR3100 circuit contains Honeywell's HMC1022 two-axis magnetic sensors which provide x and y-axis magnetic sensing of earth's magnetic field. Small size and low weight are added features of this solid state compass. A development kit for this product is available. It includes additional hardware and a Windows demonstration program software.

Honeywell's complete family of magnetic sensor-based products offer high sensitivity for accurate compassing, remote vehicle detection monitoring, virtual reality, position sensing, security systems and medical instrumentation.
