Honeywell
Introduces Digital Compass Module
MINNEAPOLIS,
AUG. 29, 1997
-- Honeywell today introduced the Digital Compass Module to its family
of magnetic sensors. The HMR3000 is an affordable, easy to use electronic
compass which provides fast response time and excellent resolution. Built
with Honeywell's solid state magnetoresistive sensors, this new compass
offers a rugged design calibrated for hard iron and is highly reliable.
The HMR3000 is a complete three-axis compass solution for high performance
applications such as oceanography, drilling, attitude reference, virtual
heading and integration with GPS where accuracy of orientation is critical.
Response
time to 20 Hertz and high headng accuracy of 0.5 degrees with resolution
of 0.1 degree is offered and heading output (roll, pitch, yaw) is provided
in National Marine Equipment Association (NMEA) format. This new Honeywell
product is available in a circuit board, weighing less than two ounces,
or in a 3.25 x 1 x 0.876 inch aluminum enclosure. The Digital Compass
Module provides a low power solution (operating power less than 25mA)
allowing long operation with a battery while providing a wide tilt range
of ± 45 degrees.
These new
devices, manufactured at Honeywell's Solid State Electronics Center in
Plymouth, Minn., are now available for sampling.
