| Compassing - Electronic Compasses and GPS Navigation |
| Most
navigation systems today use some type
of compass to determine heading direction.
Using the earth's magnetic field, electronic
compasses based on Honeywell magnetoresistive
(MR) sensors can electrically resolve
better than 0.1 degree rotation. Honeywell
advanced magnetic sensors and magnetometers
provide users with a complete turnkey
solution for electronic compassing.
Electronic compasses offer many advantages
over conventional "needle"
type or gimbaled compasses such as:
shock and vibration resistance, electronic
compensation for stray field effects,
and direct interface to electronic navigation
systems. Engineers can easily integrate
our digital compass module into their
own systems via a simple USART communication
interface which makes it ready for use
in applications like automobile GPS
systems, electronic compasses for cars,
hand held electronics, and telescope
positioning. Click here to learn more

| Magnetometers |
| Honeywell's
three-axis smart digital magnetometer
(HMR) detects the strength and direction
of a magnetic field and communicates
the x, y, and z component directly to
a computer. Three independent bridges
are oriented to sense the x, y, and
z axis of a magnetic field. Low cost,
high sensitivity, fast response, small
size, and reliability are advantages
over mechanical or other magnetometer
alternatives. With an extremely low
magnetic field sensitivity and a user
configurable command set, these sensors
solve a variety of problems in custom
applications. They are ideally suited
for applications involving compassing-avionics
and marine, remote vehicle monitoring
(roll/pitch/yaw), process control, laboratory
instrumentation, anomaly detection,
traffic and vehicle detection, security
systems, and more. Click here for more

| Dead Reckoning |
| In GPS-denied environments, Honeywell's Dead Reckoning (DRM®) technology provides seamless integration of GPS and dead reckoning navigation and position estimates. Modules with miniaturized three-axis magnetometers, accelerometers, and gyros, along with a barometric altimeter keep track of user movements when GPS derived location is unavailable or degraded. | Position
Sensing- Linear and Angular Position
Sensors |
| Honeywell
has an affordable position sensing solution
for you. Our high-resolution sensor
modules demonstrate the position-sensing
concept and assists users in easily
implementing their own solution. Our
sensors are capable of measuring the
angle direction of a magnetic field
from a magnet with <0.07° resolution.
Advantages of measuring field direction
versus field strength include: insensitivity
to the temperature coefficient of the
magnet, less sensitivity to shock and
vibration, and the ability to withstand
large variations in the gap between
the sensor and magnet. These sensors
may be operated on 3 volts with bandwidth
response of 0-5 MHz. Output is typical
Wheatstone bridge. Because there are
no moving electronic components, our
position sensors offers users exceptionally
long operational life, reliability,
and accuracy. Click here to learn about
